Get Your Head Back In The Game

I can’t believe it’s almost summer! Where has the time gone? The boys have already taken advantage of their late night and even later mornings routine and I’m ashamed to admit that I have fallen prey to the madness. There is no better feeling than being able to disable every alarm on my phone and enjoy laying in bed for as long as I please. But reality set in today and reminded me of an important scripture from the bible, “if a man will not work, he shall not eat” and let’s be serious your girl loves to eat so I did what I had to do. Maybe you are dealing with some of my same struggles so I decided to share exactly what I had to do to get my head back in the game.

Make A To-Do List

Absolutely nothing can be accomplished without making plans first. Creating a to-do list will help you to relieve the stress and burdens of being all over the place. You can create the list in the order of what’s most important for you. Once you have a plan in place you will feel more energized and productive. Don’t try to complete them all in one day. Pace yourself and strive for greatness on every task and prepare to be amazed on how smooth your work week goes.

Change Your Scenery

A fresh perspective calls for an environment to match it! Instead of working in your office or stuffy cubicle try working outside and enjoy the fresh air. If you have flexibility in your career working in a fresh new coffee shop or book store could really allow you to get more creative. I have done some of my best work when I was working in a place that made me feel free from deadlines and judgement.

Take A Trip Down Memory Lane

Remember your why! Why am I working so hard again? Why did I decide to start this business? Why did I choose to be a stay-at-home mom? Sometimes when we get unmotivated it’s because we have lost sight of what’s important. We forget about the feeling that we had on the inside, or the confirmation we got from God that lead us to make the decisions that we did. Remember your goals and don’t forget about the sacrifices you have already made. Keep moving, it’s all worth it.

Disconnect

En Vogue had a popular song that said, “Free your mind and the rest will follow”. I believe that the only way to achieve this goal is to disconnect from anything that distracts or hinders you from being completely successful. Unplug the t.v., turn off your cell phone, log out of all social media accounts and spend some time in your secret place. Give yourself time to breathe and work through your thoughts. Once your mind is clear allow it to stay that way. Think about nothing. I personally use this time to taste different wines to help refine my palate, but feel free to indulge in your beverage or snack of choice, just remember not to have a care in the world while doing it.
